This Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the board will meet at 1pm. Here is the agenda. The first part of the meeting is in Room 2226 where they will have a conflicts of interests and ethics training. Here is the agenda item. You can scroll to the bottom to find supporting documents. It is interesting to see what is and isn't allowed. They will also have a board self-assessment. Here is that agenda item. At 4pm, the meeting moves to the Auditorium. They will discuss charter school building requests and allocations. This is an interesting document that discusses many aspects of available district buildings, costs to charters, etc.
They will then discuss the budget.
Here is the agenda info.
Here is the staff answers to questions from last week's budget discussion, as well as some of their recommendations. The X Factor recommendation for elementary schools is
here. Some schools will receive more than 30% less if approved. This is the fund used to staff school's offices.
Here is a document on employee salaries. I attended this meeting and I feel like I am living "Groundhog Day"; same thing every year.
The last item of the day is a discussion about using the Mesa Fund to avoid cutting 50% of next year's VAPA instructors.
Here is what the Mesa Fund is, along with other funds. Interesting....
Here is the agenda for the closed session, set to start at 11am.
Save the date....February 14th...before you celebrate Valentine's Day, stop by the board meeting and speak out against changing graduation requirements and the millions of dollars they want to spend hiring for these new positions. How can they increase class sizes to the extreme, then hire more teachers for classes high school kids shouldn't be forced to take??? Stop it now...we need you, your high school graduate or soon to graduate students to speak.
